The DRESS

I have so much to blog about.... my brother Rowland married my old college roommate Amanda this past weekend in the Draper temple. Everything turned out amazing and beautiful, but that will all have to wait for another post.

The reason for this post is about a simple outfit. A beautiful dress actually..... and no i am not talking about the brides dress, although that dress is gorgeous too (but remember that is coming in another post), I am talking about my moms dress. Sadly I don't have a single good photo of just my mom in her dress! You will have to get the general idea and I will make her put it on again so i can take a better picture.

While in the temple my mom told me this dress she was wearing belonged to her mom. It was the dress that her mom wore to her wedding in 1978 (total vintage!). For those that don't know, my grandparents and aunt were all killed in a car accident in August of 1982, so i never had the chance of meeting them in this life.

Whenever my mom shows me something that belonged to one of them I always find it extra special, and this dress is no exception. I love hearing stories about my grandparents and aunt and seeing my mom in a dress that her mom wore to her wedding over 30 years ago was a total surprise and unexpected! The dress is beautiful, but knowing it belonged to my grandma makes it extra pretty. Maybe one day I will wear it to Preston's wedding!

(My favorite thing about my mom wearing this dress is that when she put it on for my dad he knew immediately that this dress belonged to his mother in law)

Grandma's are the best. I am so glad Preston has been able to spend his first year of life with one of his grandmas.... lucky, lucky boy!

What an awesome history with the dress. I love family traditions! I don't have a very big family, so I cherish every little piece of history I have.
