Porter's ONE month stats:
11.9 lbs (75-90 percentile) (preston 12.2 lbs)
23 1/4 inches (90-95 percentile) (preston 23 3/4 in.)
15 inch head (50 percentile) (preston 15 3/4 in.)
I thought Porter was going to be bigger then Preston, but I guess i just forgot how big Preston really was. At Preston's one month checkup he was in the greater than 95th percentile for weight and length, and 90th for his head (big guy!). Either way, Porter is still plenty big for his age! Boy do I love my big babies.
People tell me the two of them look identical. I don't really think so, but of course they do have some similarities and look like brothers.
Both of these pictures were taken at their one month checkup. Preston (left) looks like Glen, Porter (right) looks a lot like my brothers baby pictures. I'm just waiting for a girl that looks like me, yes a mini PAIGE! Ha, but not for a VERY, VERY, VERY long time.
A few things to remember about Porter:
-You have a dairy intolerance (just like your brother, so no dairy for me)
-You love to sleep and still haven't really woken up from your newborn stage
-However, you don't love to sleep between the hours of 2-5 a.m.
-You love to eat, and the moment your eyes are open you want to eat right that second
-You don't really have a whine or whimper, you have a high pitch loud scream
-You love to be held, but don't care for all of Preston's loves (aka attacks)
-You love the water...... bath or shower, you are always so relaxed
-You have never had a 'wet only' diaper.... there is ALWAYS more then just a little pee pee
-You are beautiful and so kissable
-You don't love being swaddled
-You do love sleeping in my bed next to me
A few things to remember about Preston (15 months):
-You are the most curious person i have ever met
-You are also the happiest child i have ever met
-You put everything and anything into your mouth
-You are a destroyer (you can mess up any given room/space in record time)
-You talk all day day long
-You are obsessed with your grandpa.... obsessed
-You are such a ladies man and people person
-You have such a goofy cheese smile
-You are a little naughty boy and like to open up the car door... and every other door for that matter
-You love to go into the garage to hide and escape from me
-You are the sweetest little boy and have the best disposition I have ever been around
-You are so mischievous!
-You have long curly hair, (wavy on top) and your dad wont let me trim it!
A few things to remember about motherhood:
-Having two kids is hard
-Having two kids 14 months apart, is really hard
-Sleepless nights, and napless days are exhausting
-Post pregnant stomach and enormous nursing boobs suck.... totally depressing
-Not losing a single pound until I stop nursing, sucks ever worse
-Living in my parents jungle gym of a house with a one year old is a nightmare
-Remodeling a home is miserable, add the summer heat and all the running around with two babies ... torture
These last 5 weeks have been filled with lots of love, fun, laughter, tears, learning moments, rip my hair out kind of moments, and some tender moments. It's been tough, but very rewarding.
I love being a mom. I am so grateful for my babies and their health. I am grateful for the man that made me a mama. I am grateful for eternal families and the knowledge that we will be together forever. I'm grateful for the Taylor family, and for their story that they shared with the world. I now remember to be a little more patient, take an extra breath in the stressful moments, learn to enjoy the late night feedings, embrace my babies more often and squeeze them a little tighter.
