- You were finally given your full name: Porter William Hughes. (William after your great grandpa cunningham)
- Your umbilical cord fell off (this always makes me a little sad because I feel like it is the last little part of you that was attached to me, and I feel like once it falls off you are no longer a new newborn. Makes me feel like you are already growing up to fast!)
- You were circumcised. Saddest day of my life. I think i cry more then you do. I told your dad I refuse to do this again and if we have any more boys he will have to be the one to deal with it because I will not and I could careless!
- Your brother has an ear infection and is ornery as ever.
- Your Aunt Amanda came to town from chicago to help us out while grandma is out of town.
- Your mom was homesick for her mom, and your brother was missing all the attention from his cousins, and grandparents.
- AND.......I can't remember all the other reasons why yesterday was a day to remember, but I do remember it was an eventful day!
In your first week, you have been hugged, loved, obsessed over, and kissed on by so many. We have had lots of visitors and no shortage of attention.
Getting lots of love from your cousins
Aunt Maddie
naughty little brother playing in your bed.
Cousin fun! Hopefully aunt alisa and amanda can have some cousins for you to play with asap. (and aunt charesse after she finds herself a baker)
love these two stinkers... probably the most mischievous babes i know... total partners in crime.
you had your first photo shoot with lisa!
you love everything soft and fuzzy and love to nozzle your face against them
you love your sponge bath and getting your hair washed!
A few random things to remember about this delivery and baby number 2:
- Labor was a thousand time easier
- Nursing is a hundred times less painful
- Cramping and contractions after birth are miserable and just as bad as the contractions I had while in labor! (no joke, there are times i think i'm dying)
- I'd much rather care for a baby out of me, then in me. (still not a fan of pregnancy)
- I feel so much better post baby then i do pregnant with baby.... even with lack of sleep, cramping, nursing, poopy diapers, etc. etc.
- A pair of spanks are my bff. When i'm nursing and cramping it feels much better to have something tight and constricting on.
- Porter pretty much sleeps through the night. He does 5 hour stretches and has since the day he was born. He eats around 11 p.m. and then again around 4 or 5, and then sleeps again until around 9. It is amazing.
- Having a newborn around brings the sweetest spirit into our home. It's a bit of heaven.
- Your kiss mark is already fading on its own and at the same time becoming more and more apart of you. (but we still go see a specialist on wednesday about a possible cream, and liquid medication to help it fade quicker)
- You have the most beautiful skin, and blonde fury hair all over your body. (i love it!)
- You have the most perfect little face and look a lot like your uncles on the Cunningham side. Your grandma is very proud of you being the first of her five grandbabies to look like a Cunningham.
- And lastly..... you are the cutest, sweetest, most fun and lovable baby. We are once again obsessed with you and so grateful for the joy you bring into our life.
p.s. anyone know how i can center my blog header??? it's driving me nuts!

Cute! Glad you're doing well! I'm not sure how to center the header writing, but try googling it. You could always just use picasa or some photoshop like thing and center the writing yourself and then upload it as a pic onto blogger...
I LOVE that baby man!! I miss him and I only just saw him on Thursday!! I need another visit...
OK, the cramping almost killed me! I don't even remember having it with my first baby! And my nurse told me it only gets worse with each baby, so we may be stopping at two...
Okay, before reading to the end here, I said (out loud) "he looks just like his Grandpa Cunningham!! How special :)
He is so precious Paige! Newborns are for sure a bit of heaven...glad he is here safe and mommy feels better too!
